How the daily page is made
The publishing pipeline separates verified facts from optional writing assistance. This keeps the puzzle identity and letter clues reproducible while allowing the explanations to sound natural.
Verified puzzle data
The puzzle number, answer, and date are retrieved from the New York Times puzzle endpoint. The build rejects malformed or mismatched responses.
Generated prose, fixed facts
AI may draft the conversational clue wording. Letter counts, positions, repeat status, patterns, and the difficulty label are computed in code and cannot be changed by that draft.
Local definitions
Every word in the 2,309-answer model has a local definition. Daily publishing does not wait for a third-party dictionary request or substitute generic filler.
Named publisher
